Welcome to 4th USICON 2020 

Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University proudly presents the 4th International Seminar on Ushuluddin Islamic Conference (USICON) on November 10-11, 2020. The 4th USICON 2020 is hosted by Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought. The conference will be held in Yogyakarta,  Indonesia on November 10-11, 2020 under the theme “Religion and Biopolitics: Challenge and Opportunity in New Normal Era”. The first USICON was held successfully on 2017 in Yogyakarta. The second USICON was also held in Yogyakarta on 2018. The third USICON has been held on 2019 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and in collaboration with Center fo the Study of Religion, Philosophy and Society and Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, Esensia, FORMASI, CRCS (Center for Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies) Gadjah Mada University.

Objectives and Scope

The aims of activity include:

  1. To identify the notions of biopolitics of world religions and to respond Covid-19 pandemic from religious perspective.
  2. To encourage broader discussion from philosophical, theological, social, and political perspectives that contributes to recreate and strengthen the new ways of biopolitics in new era for the better of human life.
  3. To publish the discourse on religion and biopolitics in the field of religion and religiosity from philosophical, theological, social, and political perspectives in new era.

We encourage the researchers in philosophical/hermeneutical, theological, sociological, political, and interreligious-interfaith approaches to submit abstract for either oral or poster presentation on the following topics:

  1. Islamic Theology and Biopolitics
  2. Islamic Philosophy and Biopolitics
  3. Quranic Studies and Biopolitics
  4. Hadith Studies and Biopolitics
  5. Religious Studies and Biopolitics
  6. Sociology of Religion and Biopolitics
  7. Gender Studies and Biopolitics
  8. Any other related issues
