Perdebatan Bahasa Tasawuf pada Manaqib dalam Manuskrip Online (Kajian Naskah Risalah al-Syeikh Asnawi al-Quds al-Jawi)

Abstract

Literary works are a medium favored by Sufis as a medium for their self-expression. Sometimes the language of Sufism in literary works becomes a debate for pros and cons. One example of the pros and cons debate surrounding the language of Sufism is the debate that occurred between Sheikh Asnawi Kudus and Sayyid Abdullah bin Sholeh Az-Zawawi regarding the law of reading the manaqib of Sheikh Abdul Qodir al-Jilani which was written in an online manuscript on the DREMSEA page with the title Risalah Syeikh Asnawi al-Quds al-Jawi. This research turns the manuscript into a research object using a philological and balaghah linguistic approach with the aim of studying the debate between the two figures. This research is a type of descriptive analysis research, namely by displaying data and analyzing it, then describing it. The results of this research concluded that Sheikh Asnawi used the balaghah approach to refute Sayyid Abdullah’s argument that forbade reading manaqib, and it was also concluded that to understand Sufism texts you must use the balaghah approach because it cannot be understood directly from the original text.
