Abstract

This article aims to examine the religion of rural women in Teluk Kuali. It is important to look at rural women’s religion in relation to the devout practices of women in Teluk Kuali Village after coming into contact with Javanese ethnicity. The Anthropology of Religion approach and the political theory of piety by Saba Mahmood were used to assist the analysis. The findings in the research show that rural women do not have authority in women’s religious traditions, however the reality shows the enthusiasm and passion of rural women in religious activities. This is demonstrated in the practices of their daily lives. Starting from using Islamic attributes, participating in congregational prayers at the mosque, helping each other by being directly involved in traditional religious rites, and being active in taklim assembly activities
