Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit papers to the 9th Ushuluddin International Conference (USICON) 2026 on the theme From Fasād to Iṣlāḥ: Islamic Thought and Ethics for a Regenerative Civilization. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting.

1. Abstract

Written in English, 250–300 words.
States the research problem, method or approach, main findings, and contribution.
Followed by 3–5 keywords.

2. Full Paper

Written in English, based on research or conceptual work within the scope of the conference and addressing one of the eight sub-themes.
Structured using the IMRaD model (Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion), followed by a Conclusion. Conceptual and text-based papers may adapt this structure while keeping a clear introduction, method or approach, discussion, and conclusion.
Length of 4,000–8,000 words, including footnotes and references.
Formatted on A4 paper, Garamond font, 1.5 line spacing, using the official USICON template.
Author names are written without academic degrees, positions, or ranks, and include institutional affiliation, country, and email address. The corresponding author must be indicated.

3. References and Citation

Use footnotes following the Chicago Manual of Style (full note), with a bibliography at the end of the paper.
References must be managed with a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.
Arabic terms and names follow the transliteration system specified in the template.

4. Originality and Similarity Check

Papers must be original, and must not have been published or be under review elsewhere.
All submissions are checked using similarity-detection software. Papers with substantial overlap with previously published work will be rejected.

5. Use of AI Tools

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI tools in preparing the manuscript, in a statement placed before the references.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and originality of their work.

6. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, interviews, or sensitive data must include a statement of ethics approval or exemption, where applicable.

7. Submission Procedure

Prepare your paper using the official USICON template.
Register an account and submit your full paper through this OJS.
Complete the submission form at s.id/USICON-submissionform.

Both the OJS submission and the form are mandatory, and the information in both must be consistent. Submission period: September 25 – October 25, 2026.

8. Review and Publication

All papers are evaluated through the conference's peer review process. The best papers will be selected for presentation and for publication in the proceedings of a reputable international publisher, subject to the publisher's editorial review and requirements, including additional fees where applicable.
