Issue in Press: Proceedings of the 9th Ushuluddin International Conference (USICON) 2026

The Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, announces that the Proceedings of the 9th Ushuluddin International Conference (USICON) is currently in preparation. The conference will be held on 10–11 November 2026 at the Convention Hall, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, under the theme:

“From Fasād to Iṣlāḥ: Islamic Thought and Ethics for a Regenerative Civilization”

The theme starts from the observation that today’s world faces many forms of fasād (corruption and destruction). These include ecological disasters, the climate crisis, moral and economic decline, sexual violence, the erosion of public trust, and the epistemic disruption brought by artificial intelligence and algorithms. In response, the conference invites scholars to explore how Islamic thought and ethics can offer pathways of iṣlāḥ (repair, reform, and renewal) toward a regenerative civilization, one that heals, restores, and sustains human and ecological life.

The conference will feature the following keynote speakers:

  • Prof. Mohammad Sharifani, Ph.D. (Allameh Tabataba’i University, Tehran, Iran & Director of the Islamic Cultural Center Jakarta)
  • Assoc. Prof. Mark Woodward, Ph.D. (Arizona State University, USA)
