Case Study of Ngaji Filsafat in JS mosque of Yogyakarta

This paper describes the relationship between ritual and gender in religious practice in Yogyakarta. This religious practice is Ngaji Filsafat at the JS Mosque of Colombo complex in Yogyakarta. The religious rituals created and practiced by Muslim in the world will largely determine gender sustainability in the religious ritual itself. Does this mechanism also occur in rituals Ngaji Filsafat in JS Mosque of Yogyakarta? Data obtained from observation and depth interview to one of Takmir in JS Mosque of Yogyakarta named WH. The author uses a constructionist approach. Based on observation and data processing can be disclosed that the activities of Ngaji Filsafat as one as of the religious rituals in Yogyakarta that are able to create different gender construction, which presents a balanced and inclusive pattern. All peoples who play a role in Ngaji Filsafat are actors, as santri, takmir, speakers, and community that support the activity. This can be known through the position and space portion for men and women, and speaker statements during the recitation, and the form of closeness between the mosque
