Abstract

The courage of this science cannot be separated from the basic assumptions of religion and science are two things that can have has a way to find the truth. Because of the methods that try to convert, it becomes a testament to the science it deserves to be a tool in helping religious research. If analogy, then religion can also be a tool to understand science. This study aims to understand the way Ian G. Barbour thinks about the method of science and his welfare towards Islamic studies. To answer the existing questions, researchers used qualitative methods. This research includes library research (library research). This research only uses a functional perspective to explain the function of the interaction model of Barbour's thought with the development of science about religion and science. Testing the validity of data with credibility tests with increased perseverance and discussion with peers. The results of this study indicate a theory of science based on experience that requires empirical can be interpreted not only by empirical evidence and also based on intuition. The scientific community (scientific community) sharpened into the research community) has an important attitude in determining what paradigm to use that can be done through journals. Based on experience and interpretations that are key words from Barbour, scientific methods such as analogy can examine religion. Actually, in the Islamic world there are already methods used to examine texts such as analogies that are often called qiyas. Barbour thinking can open new insights for Muslims to not only dwell on the understanding of religion alone but must open the horizon, especially about studies in the field of science with the method it offers as an alternative in the study of Islam and vice versa.
