Gender Equality toward Sexuality in Qurrotul Uyun: A Feminist Approach

Abstract

This study investigates the gender equality toward sexuality in Islamic book. Qurrotul Uyun was written by Sheikh Imam Abu Muhammad. That Islamic book is used in most of Pesantren in Indonesia for years. Moreover, the content is in the shape of verses which the grand thought is about sexuality in Islam. Most of Islamic scholar brand the Qurrotul Uyun as the way of doing sexual activity in marriage. This paper employs feminist perspective in elaborating the meaning of sexuality and the balancing power in the relation between man and woman or wife and husband. By that perspective, the gender equality is well depicted from the diction choices which lead to the equal control in sexuality. What is meant by equality is based on Ratna Kapur
