Abstract

The progress of an era is marked by the development of technological innovation. Technology was created to help human works. One part of technology that cannot be separated from human life is social media which aims to facilitate human communication. But unfortunately, technology always plays role like two blades of a knife; positive and negative. Freedom contained in social media is unfortunately used to convey ideas and thoughts that containing hate speech. With enthusiasm in responding to this phenomenon, this article raises the hadiths about "saying good or silent" are learned and understood through Fazlur Rahman's hermeneutical perspective with his ideal moral concept. Rahman offers the spirit of upholding moral values to make a breakthrough in changes to present-day problems by understanding the text through the search for ideal moral. The first step is to describe the related hadiths in the context of the past when he appeared. The second step is to draw general and fundamental values in the hadiths. The third step is to draw the ideal moral. The fourth step, which is the highest point of the whole process, is implementing a moral ideal in a real way. If it is realized well, then the religious texts should have played an effective and communicative-implementative role in responding to the dynamics of nowadays problems.
