Abstract

Parental care for children with special needs presents in a very dynamic portrait. The various parenting experience are characterized by huge adaptations and transformations to achieve well-being for every single component in family. Handling efforts to improve welfare was brought in many ways involving cognitive and behaviour activities as steps to solve problems that faced by parents in a whole life with children with special needs. Banjar community culture have their own uniqueness in responding parental care towards children with special needs. A characteristic of nurturing that leads to encourage spiritual awareness to find the value of happiness and sources of calmness. This research aims to explore further mechanisms that impact on improving the psychological well-being of
parents who raise children with special needs. This paper examined the cultural basis of Banjar community with special needs children through design of descriptive framework, qualitative research in phenomenological approach and has collected inclusive criteria sample. The result of investigation caught a difference behaviour of Banjar community in providing parental. The collective meaning of concept children with special needs as individuals who carried transcendent values was the perspective that underlie efforts to improve welfare.
