Pengalaman Difabel: Penolakan dan Upaya Resiliensi

Rejections in society aimed at people with disabilities such as discrimination, bullying, neglect, and so on occur because of perceptions and stigma in society. These various rejections are forms of social pathology that must be faced by disabled people. In facing these problems and rejection, a special ability is needed, namely resilience. For this reason, this research is aimed at finding out the rejection experienced by disabled people in depth and the resilience efforts they make. The theory used in this research is resilience theory based on two resilience factors, namely risk factors and protective factors. The method used in this research is qualitative with data collection carried out by means of observation, documentation and in-depth interviews with 11 physically disabled people who have demonstrated resilience. The results of this research found that the rejection experienced by 11 informants was; 8 people experienced bullying, 1 person experienced neglect, and 2 people experienced unequal access and rights. Meanwhile, resilience efforts carried out by 11 informants identified protective factors even though they had carried out resilience several times which led to risk factors.
