Abstract

This research aims to describe how the experiences of parents who choose the homeschool education system for their children with cerebral palsy. With the complex barriers that children with cerebral palsy have, the special education and inclusion systems both provide unsatisfactory perceptions and experiences because both can't accommodate the needs of children with cerebral palsy. Therefore, some parents consider the homeschooling education system to be a more likely option so that children with cerebral palsy still have the chance to learn, either with their own parents, or with private teachers, homeschooling service providers, or by forming independent study groups. Data collection using interview and observation techniques. From the research results, it show that 4 parentsĀ  in Yogyakarta who choose homeschooling as the basis of education for their children, regardless of positive experiences, negative experiences still accompany them. Positive experiences are felt, for example, feeling satisfied when the child can understand the simple learning being taught, the joy of being able to study together with other children and parents in the study group, the strengthening of the bonding between mother and child. Meanwhile, the negative experience that is felt is in the form of poor judgment by others who think that children who do not take formal education are basically not school
