Abstract

This study aims to describe the habitual learning method applied in shaping independent character for children with mental disabilities in Ainul Yakin Islamic Boarding School in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. In providing education on mental disabilities, the Ainul Yakin Islamic Boarding School applies the habitual learning method that can help them live their daily lives independently. Data collected using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The result showed that the types of activities which were classified as light but were carried out continuously. One of them is the five-time prayer activity where children are accustomed to being able to stand, sit and prostate independently. all the processes of forming independent characters are carried out using a number of tools and are based on the principles that will be explained in the discussion section.
[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan metode habitual learning yang diterapkan dalam bentuk karakter mandiri bagi anak-anak disabilitas mental di Pesantren Ainul Yakin Gunungkidul Yogyakarta. Dalam memberikan pendidikan terhadap anak disabilitas mental, Pesanten Ainul Yakin menerapkan metode habitual learning yang dapat membantu mereka dalam menjalani kehidupan sehari-hari secara mandiri. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis aktivitas yang dijadikan alat pembentuk kebiasaan hanyalah aktivitas-aktivitas yang tergolong ringan namun dilakukan secara terus-menerus. Salah satunya adalah aktivitas salat lima waktu untuk membiasakan anak-anak berdiri, duduk dan sujud secara mandiri. Semua proses pembentukan karakter mandiri tersebut dijalankan dengan menggunakan beberapa alat dan dilandasi pada prinsip-prinsip yang akan diterangkan dalam pembahasan.]
