Abstract
In today’s digital era, religious education has entered a new phase in which the use of online technologies has become an effective tool for promoting religious and ethical teachings. This transformation has created opportunities to expand access to religious resources, enhance spiritual instruction, and respond to the educational needs of diverse communities. However, alongside these opportunities, numerous philosophical and theological challenges arise in the use of online religious education. This paper examines the challenges and opportunities of religious education in the digital space from philosophical and theological perspectives. First, it addresses the existing challenges in this field, including issues related to the accurate and effective transmission of religious concepts through online platforms, cultural and religious differences across various societies, and the limitations that technology imposes on conveying religious and spiritual experiences. Furthermore, the article explores critical questions such as whether religious teachings can be effectively promoted in the digital environment, or whether risks such as the oversimplification and superficialization of religious concepts may emerge. At the same time, the article highlights the opportunities inherent in online religious education, including increased access to religious resources, the provision of educational opportunities for diverse segments of society, and the potential for interaction between religious teachings and emerging technologies. The findings of this study indicate that online religious education can continue to exert profound educational and spiritual influences, provided that careful attention is given to its philosophical and theological dimensions. Finally, the article offers practical recommendations for improving the quality of online religious education and enhancing its overall impact.
