Abstract

This study addresses the high vulnerability of girl child laborers (aged 12-16) in Cirebon's Batik Trusmi center, who face socio-economic challenges and lack access to formal vocational training. The primary goal was to explore their subjective experiences and the deep meaning found in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to independently boost their batik-making skills.Using a qualitative phenomenological method, supported by triangulated data (qualitative accounts and quantitative pre-post tests), the research involved subjects from the home batik industry. The findings reveal that AI acted as a catalyst, fundamentally shifting learning from passive imitation to deliberate, independent practice. Subjects perceived AI as a patient "private tutor." Quantitatively, AI use led to a significant 23.75% average increase in batik skills scores, notably in independence and design creativity. Qualitatively, the dominant outcome was a substantial boost in self-efficacy and cognitive autonomy. Subjects transformed from passive implementers into active motif designers, marking a crucial step in social empowerment. However, the intervention faced hurdles, specifically limited device access and connectivity. The study concludes that targeted AI intervention effectively strengthens education's role as a tool for social liberation for marginalized groups. Recommendations highlight the critical need to improve communal digital infrastructure to ensure the program's long-term sustainability.
