Implementation of Authentic Assessment in Elementary Schools

Authentic assesment is a tool of evaluating student learning applicaple to real word situation. It is unavoidable tools for modern assesment of learning outcomes. It can be apply as formative or sumative assesment or for both assesment types. This paper attempted to examined the concept of assesment and its types, the concept of authentic assesment and its categories, the forms of authentc assesment, the tools used, methods used in authentic, step involved in authentic assesment, advantages of authentic assesment challenges of authentic assesment among orders. The paper concludes that it is a high time for authentic assesment to replace traditional methode of assesment in all level of learning. The paper also recommended that the Curriculum Planners should design a curriculum based on types of authntic assesment for all levels of all learning, the application of authentic assesment at all levels of learning, time has comes to move from traditonal methode of assesment to authentic assesment from and required competenciens must be possessed by the teacher in order to carry out authentic assesment through proper training. Knowledge assessment was conducted by the workbook, besides written tests assessment was also undertaken by oral tests. They were assessing skill both of school conducted by using performance assessment in papers form. Processing of attitude assessment activity conducted by doing coordinating with BK teachers and homeroom teachers. While assessing knowledge and skill performed by calculating average the value obtained. Follow-up activities carried out by conducting written tests, added an oral test technique.
