Integrative Role of Religions in Overcome the Problem of Poverty in Banjarasri Kalibawang Kulon Progo Yogyakarta

Abstract

In reality, the economy in the Kulonprogo community has decreased and the people, especially in Kalibawang Banjarasri, cannot buy basic necessities, whose prices are soaring. They are still living below the poverty line. This study aims to determine the poverty problems faced by the community, especially in Banjarasri Kalibawang Kulonprogo Yogyakarta Special Region, the researchers wanted to map the main problems and look for alternative solutions to these problems. By knowing the integrative role of religions to overcome poverty in Banjarasri Kalibawang Kulonprogo Yogyakarta, researchers want to prove that religions can help solve the problems of poverty faced by society and not as a source of problems. This research uses Ground Research, which is to do a descriptive presentation, then interpret and analyze the behavior based on the findings in the field. Data is done by interviews, observation and discussion. Based on this research it can be concluded that: the poverty problems faced by the people of Banjarasri Kalibawang Kulonprogo are economic problems. Through its followers, religions with their institutions have a role to overcome poverty in Banjarasri in various fields, namely: economics: establishing rice mills, microfinance institutions, fishing village tourism and Odong-odong; social: establishing orphanages, Panti Werdha, Feast of Tumpeng and conducting mutual assistance; education: establishing a School / foundation; religious: establishing the Ta
