The Challenge of Diversity in Aceh

Abstract

Basically, the existence of various types of differences in various forms is not something that happens because of the mistake of Allah. God is the substance of the Almighty, it is impossible to make the slightest mistake. Then can mistakes be transferred to other than Allah, for example to nature, and to man himself? This question is also impossible to answer "yes". Then another question, what we should propose is not who is mistaken for this plurality, but what is the wisdom behind diversity itself. This paper seeks to examine how understanding and distinctive features of plurality of religion in Aceh. This is very urgent to review, considering that Aceh has a mandate as a special area. These specificities include the enactment of Islamic law and in the implementation of the wheels of government promulgated in the Law on Aceh Governance. A fact that religion is felt by humanity as something important. Among the important roles of religion for humans is to anticipate fear, discomfort due to the massive changes in global discourse caused by the development of science and technology and the spread of global information flows. Human anxiety is increasingly high due to natural disasters such as floods, the AIDS and SARS outbreaks, the economy that has collapsed, sharply increased crime, unhealthy ecological damage and others. Along with this, some people who previously considered religion not a necessity, now began to look at religious messages, both individually and in groups in religious ritual mode to fill the spiritual anxiety they felt. Although it can be felt that the meaning of religion also raises internal problems as well as interfaith issues that never go final. However, the existence of religion for humanity is increasingly important. The internal problems of mankind in their worldly lives related to institutions and sources of value have led humans into violent conflict. Limitation of such real conditions, pluralistic diversity will be a mediator that is solutive.
