Abstract
This study examines critically how the role and involvement of mass media in supporting information communication in the early 21st century in Indonesia related to various kinds of problems in Indonesian Islam that emerged and how people responded. There are many examples based on technological modernity but, which affect the life (and especially the thoughts and views) of society and Muslims in this era is mass media If in the previous period, the mass media used newspapers, radio and other simple equipment. This era has changed more easily with technology. In the development and ease of access to effective information in this era, it is very close to the possibility of getting information quickly and a lot on certain topics, one of which is about the problem of Islam. Throughout the 21st century in Indonesia, there have been various issues of Islamic problems both containing elements of SARA, ideology, practical political concepts wrapped in Islamic nuances and accusations against the intended target whether it is to divert the issue or merely benefit certain parties. So far, the community considers the media as a daily necessity, which is as if only the media could answer where it came from, how it worked and where it was after it was finished. Even in a dynamic and enabling situation to be unpredictable, the media embodies the problems of Islam from and in various points of view. This raises a variety of arguments and critical analysis both those examined carefully or only accepted outright so that various opinions emerged from the public. How to place criticism and analysis of thought in the midst of Islamic problems? Do these things represent the voice of the people? These questions along with the exposure to this abstraction will be reviewed in the next section.
