Islamic Relevance and Diversity towards Improving Community Economy and Development in Central Kalimantan (Reflection on the Huma Betang Philosophy Values of the Socio-Economic Approach)

Abstract

Islam and diversity today are closely related to economic problems and the development of sociology of society. This is due to differences and diversity, so people are required to respect each other. Central Kalimantan as one of the provinces in Indonesia which has quite a lot of ethnic and religious diversity has become its main attraction especially in terms of economic progress. The diversity of ethnic groups, cultures and religions does not make each individual have limits or distance between each other. This is because each community has a high principle of "Huma Betang Philosophy" which is a characteristic of Central Kalimantan residents. "Huma Betang" or meaning Big House means to unite the concept of free guidance in people's lives, which means that every society can live a life freely and uphold harmony and peace even though there are many differences. This paper discusses issues and tolerance among religious communities in Central Kalimantan, especially in the people of Palangka Raya, and their relevance to economic and development improvements in Central Kalimantan. The method used in writing this paper is qualitative data analysis techniques and observations, and uses a socio-economic approach that reviews directly the conditions of diversity, tolerance and economy among the people of Palangka Raya. Based on the results of the analysis, the reflection of the values ??in the philosophy of huma betang applied by the people of Palangka Raya city in social life makes people tolerate and not discriminate between each other so that it makes it easier for people to interact and working together especially in terms of the economy which then results in being able to improve the economy and encourage development in a better direction for Central Kalimantan.
