Dialectic of Hadith Understanding on Isbal (Considering Between Normative-Textualist and Historical-Contextual Understanding)

Abstract

The polemics of hadiths understanding on isbal have direct impacts in both ?characterizing Muslims daily practices and the way they perverse each other. The focus ?of the study in this research is emphasizing on several aspect that are involved in ?understanding hadiths on isbal, namely textual and contextual factors, micro and ?macro asbab al-wurud, as well as at the extra-relationship text aspect. By analyzing a ?hadith, a which absolutely forbids isbal and another that permits in with some ?prescriptions, this study concludes that the dialectics on isbal lies on the basic moral ?principle of avoiding arrogance. So that, whether forbidding or even permitting isbal ?will be a great sin if the practice is motivated by arrogance.
