Abstract

One of the basic literacy that we need to develop in early childhood is literacy. By having literacy
skills, a person can live his life with better quality. Reading and writing are positively correlated with
language skills and mastery of vocabulary in early childhood so that children have readiness to enter
the next level. the role of the teacher and the role of parents are also very large in laying the
foundation for developing literacy for a child, therefore the need for understanding parents and
teachers in developing literacy through various fun strategies and methods, one of them is the
method of telling stories. The method of storytelling (story) is a way of telling words or giving
explanations to children verbally in an effort to introduce or provide information on new things to
children. Storytelling teachers can help children explore by reciting children's favorite stories, forming
rich literacy environments and involving children in games that stimulate literacy in children's literacy
