International Da’wah Conference (IDACON) 2025
Shaping the Future of Da’wah: Addressing Inequality, Advancing Inclusive Societies, and Driving Sustainable Development
Date: 2 October 2025
The Faculty of Da’wah and Communication (FDK) at Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga (UIN SUKA) warmly invites scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students to submit abstracts for the International Da’wah Conference (IDACON) 2025.
The conference highlights the expanding role of Da'wah in addressing persistent inequalities and social injustice. In an increasingly stratified world—characterized by economic disparity, social exclusion, political polarization, and environmental challenges—there is a growing need to reconceptualize Da'wah as a powerful and strategic force for social change. Inequality—whether in education, health, economic opportunity, or digital access—continues to shape the conditions of Indonesian communities and deepen cycles of poverty and vulnerability. These disparities are likely to influence mental health, migration, civic participation, and community cohesion. Within this complex landscape, Da'wah—through its applications in Islamic communication, management, counselling, community development, and social work—offers a contextually grounded and values-based framework to empower vulnerable groups and advocate for systemic change.
Despite the longstanding tradition of Da’wah, significant research gaps remain in understanding in the effectiveness, adaptability, and role of Da’wah practices in addressing inequalities and promoting sustainable development. Key questions include: How and in what way Da’wah practices address inequality and media manipulation in the digital age? What models of Da’wah practices can effectively address rising mental health needs among marginalized groups? How and in what ways faith-based or Da’wah institutions contribute to sustainable urban and rural development, especially in post-conflict or disaster-affected settings? How can Islamic values influence participatory governance, environmental action, and inclusive policy reform?
