INTERPRETASI AYAT LGBTQ IRSHAD MANJI DAN SCOTT KUGLE PRESPEKTIF TEORI SOSIO-KRITIK JURGEN HABERMAS

Abstract

The Stonewall Riot in New York in 1969 is regarded as the starting point for the support of LGBT and Queer rights around the world. As a result of the riots, all LGBTQ communities celebrate pride month every June. This year 2022 is their 53rd celebration. Some scholars, activists and organizations concerned about the discrimination and persecution of the LGBTQ community, provide support by voicing freedom rights, fighting for legitimacy and legality, even to the point of reconstructing the interpretation of the Qur'anic verse that explains the meaning to support LGBTQ identity. Previous research on LGBTQ has described negative health impacts such as HIV and Aids, damaged morality, social change and discrimination. With some literature that shows the pros and cons of interpreting verses about LGBTQ, it is important to analyze to provide a critique of interpretation through Habermas' socio-critical public space theory as well as to provide a response to the pride month warning as a prevention of the increasing number and understanding of pro LGBTQ in Indonesia.
