Abstract

The struggle against gender inequality and justice is a necessity of history. Thus, to make it happen is always challenged the historicity of gender division occurs through a very long and diverse process. Among them is because it is formed, socialized, reinforced and even socially and culturally constructed either through interpretation of religious or state texts. This study aims to describe the perceptions of rural multi-racial women on the concept of gender equality and gender quality in the scope of children education in rural multi ethnic families. This research uses qualitative phenomenological methods. Research subjects as many as three families. Data collection was done by purposive sampling. The result of the research showed that women of three families of rural multi religious community placed gender equality and gender quality on the education of children in the family, became the first and main environment. The result of the research also showed different concept which influenced the gender equality and gender quality in the education of the children of the rural multi religious community. Namely: beliefs, attitude, adjustment, future needs and expectations.
